Restriction Exemption Program Update

Tourism Jasper will be implementing the Restrictions Exemption Program in order to safely welcome guests to the 2021 Jasper Dark Sky Festival. This program includes a number of protocols and we will only be able to welcome guests to our events who meet the following requirements:

  • Have proof of double vaccination (note that for a transitional period between September 20 and October 25, proof of a single dose would be considered acceptable as long as the dose was given two weeks or more before the event date.)
  • Have documentation of a medical exemption
  • Have proof of a recent (within 72 hours of service) negative COVID-19 test (either PCR or Rapid Test). The test may not be from Alberta Health Services or Alberta Precision Laboratories.

Additional information

  • Those under age 12 would not need to provide proof of immunization or a negative test to enter/participate.

Wristband program

  • Attending multiple events? Simplify your life and get your vaccination proof checked in advance to receive a wristband that provides expedited access into all festival events using the Restriction Exemption Program. Advance vaccination verification for wristbands will be available at the Tourism Jasper information desk in the Old Firehall, during regular hours.

Where is the Festival and where are the events held?

The festival is held in the town-site of Jasper, Canada. Events are held at various locations throughout Jasper National Park.

When does the Festival take place?

Jasper’s Dark Sky Festival runs from October 16-25, 2020. Check our events page for a full listing of events that are taking place. October is also Dark Sky month in Jasper National Park and there are many great events happening throughout the month.

What is the weather like in October in Jasper?

The average temperature tends to drop and fluctuate during the month of October. The highs can be around 15°C and the lows around -5°C.

How do I get to the events?

Many of the events will take place outdoors, and while these spaces are considered accessible, attendees should be aware that the terrain may be difficult to maneuver. Please feel free to get in touch with us if you have questions about specific events or need to make special accommodation requests.

Are tickets refundable?

Tickets are refundable if you are unable to attend.

How can I present my ticket to gain entry to the main event?

Download your ticket on your smartphone phone.

Is there assigned seating with my ticket at the main event?

Seats will be provided for all guests. All seating is general admission.

Are children required to purchase a ticket to the main event?

Children 2 and under do not require a ticket for the event. Families with children under the age of 2 are asked to keep their child on their lap. There is no special pricing for groups.
