Jasper Dark Sky Festival FAQs
Are the events free or are their tickets?
Many of the events are completely free, however, there are a few main events that are ticketed and have a cost associated. Check the events page for a full listing of events during the festival.
What are the dates of the festival?
The Jasper Dark Sky Festival presented by Rocky Mountaineer runs from October 13-22, 2017. Check our events page for a full listing of events that are taking place. October is also Dark Sky month in Jasper National Park and there are many great events happening throughout the month.
What is the weather like in Jasper during the month of October?
The average temperature tends to drop and fluctuate during the month of October. The highs can be around 15˚C and the lows around -5˚C.
Are the events wheelchair accessible?
Many of the events will take place outdoors, and while these spaces are considered accessible, attendees should be aware that the terrain may be difficult to maneuver. Please feel free to get in touch with us if you have questions about a specific event or need to make special accommodation requests.
Where is the festival?
The festival is held in the town-site of Jasper, Canada. Events are held at various locations throughout Jasper National Park.

What is the Star Package?
Package Brian Cox/Phil Plait and SPACEtalks and save on both main events! The Star Package gives you access to both main events on Friday and Saturday nights for one great price!
What time do doors open for the Brian Cox/Phil Plait and SPACEtalks?
Doors to the CN tent will open an hour before all shows:
- 6:30 pm for Brian Cox & Phil Plait . The even will run for approximately 90 minutes.
- 6:00 pm for SPACEtalks. The event will run for approximately 120 minutes.
Are the events outdoors?
Yes (and no). We are encouraging guests to dress comfortably as the presentations will be held in a large, enclosed performance tent. The tent will be equipped with heaters however, it is October!
Is seating provided?
Absolutely! Seats will be provided for all guests. All seating is general admission.
Is there special pricing for families, children or groups?
Children 2 and under do not require a ticket for the event. Families with children under the age of 2 are asked to keep their child on their lap. There is no special pricing for groups.
Will there be food or drinks available?
There will not be food or drink service during the presentation. Guests should visit one of our local Jasper restaurants before or after the event.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Yes, however, you can also download your ticket on the Ticketbud app!
All tickets are non-refundable.
